Sight tests and glasses for refugees in Greece

£2,225 funded

Can you help us provide 100 sight tests and up to 35 pairs of glasses to refugee men, women and children in the Epirus region and Athens city in Greece?

Being able to see again transforms lives. The children now able to see in school or adults finally getting relief from chronic headaches. Even a pregnant mum who can now see the scan of her new baby! About one in four people need glasses to live a full life and our unique optics project seeks to achieve that for otherwise forgotten refugees in Greece.” – Becky, volunteer in Ioannina

Emergency shelter in Chios

£350 funded

Can you help very vulnerable refugees on the over-crowded island of Chios be sheltered safely in a rented flat for a month?

“Chios’ only official camp, Vial, is extremely over-crowded and new arrivals are being accommodated in UNHCR tarpaulin sprawls outside of the main camp enclosure. The extra strain on resources and the lack of transport from Vial to the town means that this provision of emergency shelter is more important than ever.” – Niamh, volunteer in Chios

Right now, vulnerable refugees on Chios need YOUR help. Give today and help us reach people in need. Your donation could help us take immediate action.

A place to live in Athens

£1,500 funded

Can you help a homeless refugee in Athens have a safe place to stay for a few nights?

“When refugees first arrive in Athens there’s seldom somewhere safe for them to stay giving them no choice but to sleep on the streets. I’ve therefore taken on the rent for two flats to provide such accommodation. This Appeal will pay for both flats for two months.” – Rando, volunteer in Athens

Winter boots & trousers, Camp Veria, Greece

£2,000 funded

Can you help a cold refugee living in a camp in the Greek foothills be warmer and drier this winter?

Winter boots and warm joggers are essential for the 235 children, women and men in Veria. Last winter the temperature on camp dropped to a horrific low of -20° and all indicators are for another harsh winter to come. Many of our residents currently have only the summer clothes and sandals they stand in and they need our help today.” – Sarah, volunteer on Camp Veria

Boat Landings Appeal, Lesvos, Greece

£2,500 funded

Usually we would handle arrivals in north Lesvos for a single night – that is landing, transporting, cooking, cleaning and sheltering. But all camps on Lesvos are over-crowded and, as of mid September, we have been asked to accommodate all arrivals on the island for 2-3 days until space can be freed-up in the main camps. Meanwhile, arrivals are increasing. There have been 1,800 people arrive on Lesvos in the last three weeks, so the estimate for October is up to 2,700.

Right now, refugee children and adults need YOUR help. Give today and help us reach desperate people hoping for a safe future. Your donation could help us take immediate action to save lives.

Help refugees in Lesvos, Greece

£1,200 funded

Our van is absolutely crucial to our work and its loss would completely cripple operations. It would mean we could no longer deliver food to refugees in far away locations, transport especially vulnerable families or those who must visit the hospital. We will not be able to move food products, clothes, and other inventory that we supply to hundreds of refugees daily, or indeed bring our volunteers to work.” – Neda, volunteer on-the-ground in Lesvos, Greece

We are raising money for van rental, costing €1,300 (£1,200 or £40 per day) peak summer rates, which is urgently needed by 10th August. This is so that our on-the-ground partners, Neda and Rafat of the House of Humanity, can keep providing critical aid to the refugees on Lesvos island in Greece. Please DONATE what you can today as every penny counts. Your gift will bring much-needed respite to many women, men and children during Greece’s unbearably hot, dry summer months.

Feed refugees in Athens

£380 funded

Ali, Ali, Ali, Mohammed and Amr are five young Syrian men aged 18-29 who have experienced horrors of war that we can hardly begin to imagine. As they wait patiently in Athens for the Greek authorities to process their paperwork a charity has funded a small flat for them to be safe. However, they are destitute with no money for any food or other essentials. We must raise 400€ to help these young refugees have enough to eat. Click here to DONATE and give today. If you make this gift you’ll be able to help prevent these young refugees from going hungry.

Food and clothes for teenage refugees in Italy

£650 funded

We are raising £650 to provide hot food and basic clothes to 20 young refugees in Italy. Donate today and help us reach our goal?

I’m living near Turin in Italy. There is a refugee camp not far from me with 15 unaccompanied lads – under the age of 18 – in the camp. I would like to provide these youngsters, along with a few of their friends (19 years old), a good meal twice a week. We can cook it together in my apartment and transport it in pots to the camp. Each meal for 20 people comprising chicken, vegetables and bread or rice, costs about €30 for each meal which also includes a couple of bottles of pepsi. Not so nutritious but hey, these are teenagers! They also need clothes. Just a t-shirt each, a pair of shoes and some underwear and socks would make them very happy. Thank you.”
