A Week of Tragedy - Greek islands

We really try to share only positive news of hope, but sometimes this is an impossible task. So, here are the facts as we know them about a week of (largely unreported) tragedy.

We only wish we knew the names of these 10 children who will never grow up.

On the Aegean islands...

A five year old little boy was run over by a lorry and killed when he was playing, or maybe hiding (does it matter?) in a cardboard box ๐ŸŒน

Yet another stupid damn inappropriate boat, launched by smugglers in Turkey, sank taking FIVE children and two women down with it. A little baby and a toddler are included in those now gone. ๐ŸŒน ๐ŸŒน ๐ŸŒน ๐ŸŒน ๐ŸŒน ๐ŸŒน ๐ŸŒน

And now tonight we hear of a devastating fire breaking out inside an island Refugee Camp that has reportedly taken the lives of 4 people, all but one being children. ๐ŸŒน ๐ŸŒน ๐ŸŒน ๐ŸŒน

When a person heads for our shores in need of help there are a bunch of different ways we could respond. Devastatingly the UK and wider Europe are choosing the most heinous, shameful and tragic response of closed hearts, closed minds and closed borders.

How many more Alan Kurdiโ€™s must die before we say itโ€™s time to approach this crisis differently? ๐Ÿ’”

What weโ€™re doing to these poor people is #NotInMyName. Is it in yours?
